The Trip

Back in high school I had a recurring day dream in which I graduated from school, bought a VW bug, and drove it to Maine, where I'd pick up the Alaskan Highway, and basically circumnavigate the continent. Maybe South America too, why not.

Reality set in, and I went to college instead. Then a job in Germany, another in Amsterdam: it seemed a road trip wasn't going to happen. As things have worked out, however, I moved back to the U.S. to run my parents' restaurant, The Roundtown Cafe.

The red line shows my initial rough plan. The yellow line is the actual route I've taken. I take my plan of being flexible very seriously.

Now, after two years, I am ready to move on. I have paid off much of my student loan debt, I don't have any other obligations, and most significantly, I have the Bug!

So, I figure now is the time for that road trip.

As of April 1st I am unemployed (if you have a job for me, get in touch!) and on the road. There are six of the lower 48 States which I have not yet seen, and sights such as Yosemite, the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Arches National Park, and many others.

I'm on my way.
